Personal documentation belonging to members of the Heiberg family from Vienna, in the La Guette children's institution in Paris and the Jewish community in Shanghai - Personal documentation belonging to the Heiberg family from Vienna including personal correspondence of the daughter who was sent to the La Guette children's institution in Paris (founded on the initiative of Baroness Rothschild in order to rescue Jewish children from Germany and Austria after Kristallnacht); - Memoirs of children from the institution regarding Kristallnacht, among them the testimony of a child who experienced the rescue of an elderly Jewish woman by a Jewish youth who risked his life after SS men threw the woman into the Danube; - The Jewish community in Shanghai during the waves of immigration from the European countries; - The story of how a British General Consul in Shanghai, an archeology buff, rescued a engraved stone from the candelabrum from the"Beth Aharo" Synagogue after it was destroyed, and how he brought the stone for safe-keeping in a museum with the agreement of the Chinese authorities; - Founding of the"Promenaden Caf" in Shanghai, all of whose employees were Jewish refugees, including the artists who appeared there; the cafe was a center for the cultural and social life of the Jews.
