O.22 - אוסף מצקר, מכתבים וקטעי עיתונים של העיתון"פארווערט" בניו-יורק בנושא חיפוש קרובים, 1951-1940
י. מצקר היה אחד מעורכיו של העיתון"פארווערט" (ביידיש) שיצא לאור ב-New York. בשנים 1945-1951 אסף מצקר מכתבים ועדויות בכתב ששלחו ניצולי שואה לעיתון. חלק מתיעוד זה התפרסם בעיתון. קטעי עיתונים ובכללם גם כתבי יד של המכתבים והעדויות שלא פורסמו בעיתון, נמסרו באמצעות גב' רחל אוירבאך ליד ושם בשנת 1952.

מכתבי קוראים מרחבי העולם שקיבל מצקר בין השנים 1951-1940; בקשת עזרה של פליטים יהודים וניצולי שואה במציאת קרובי משפחה, הגירה או תמיכה כלכלית; כתבות שכתבו ניצולי שואה שהיגרו לארצות-הברית בשנות הארבעים ותיארו את התערותם במדינה החדשה; קטעי עיתונים ובהם עדיוות על חורבן קהילות אירופה, שפורסמו בתקופת המלחמה ולאחריה, מודעות לחיפוש קרובים, רשימות ניצולים.
O.22- The Mecker Collection: Letters and newspaper clippings from the"Forvert" newspaper published in New York regarding the search for relatives, 1940-1951
J. Mecker was one of the editors of the"Forvert" newspaper published (in Yiddish) in New York. Between 1945 and 1951 Mecker collected letters and written testimonies sent to the newspaper by Holocaust survivors. Some of this documentation appeared in the newspaper. Newspaper clippings as well as manuscripts of letters and testimonies that were not published in the newspapers were submitted to Yad Vashem by Ms. Rachel Auerbach in 1952.
Included in the documentation in the Collection:
Letters from readers from all over the world received by Mecker between 1940 and 1951; requests for help in locating relatives, emigration or financial aid from Jewish refugees and Holocaust survivors; articles written by Holocaust survivors who had emigrated to the United States during the 1940's, describing their integration in their new country; newspaper clippings containing testimonies regarding the destruction of Jewish communities in Europe that were published during and after the war, including advertisements for missing relatives and lists of survivors.
