Air-raids by the German Army; standing in line for bread an entire night and then Jews being thrown out of the line by the Poles; life in the winter without heat, 1939-1940; escape to a place for destitute Jewish refugees, spring 1940; establishment of the Warsaw Ghetto; family home turned into a meeting place for smugglers due to its having a telephone with a working line; mass deaths from spotted typhus epidemic, 1942; death of her two uncles from typhus; search of the house by German soldiers and taking all the valuables; announcement by the German authorities that all the Jews need to report to the Umschlagplatz (transport point) first willingly and then during the"Aktion"; labor in a German factory together with her mother; eviction of the Jews from their homes and sleeping in the factory; illegal trade in order to buy food; finding a hiding place together with two other young people during an"Aktio"; going out to labor from houses allocated to essential workers and return to the houses accompanied by German soldiers; labor in 36-hour shifts; contacting the Jewish underground; meetings of young people for"cultural evening"; outbreak of the Jewish Uprising, 19 April 1943; escape to a hiding place; houses set on fire by the German Army; escape in groups to various hiding places in the burning ghetto; discovery of the group on the 19th day of the uprising; forced march with the throngs to the railroad tracks and stuffed crowded train cars; deportation in the cars with no air or water; escape through a ventilation duct with a group of young people and parting from her mother; being hidden in a barn together with four other young women by a Polish farmer; receiving food from the farmer; escape from the hiding place for fear of being informed on; escape to Warsaw.
