The Gorenjska Museum is a regional museum which, under the authority of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, provides a public service in the field of the protection of movable cultural heritage and provides and performs a public service in the Gorenjska region. The area of its activities includes the municipalities of Kranj, Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Šenčur, Naklo, Preddvor, Jezersko and Bohinj. The rest of Gorenjska is covered in cooperation with other museums. It cooperates with the Gornjesavski Museum in the municipalities of Jesenice, Žirovnica, Kranjska Gora; with the Kamnik Cultural Center in the municipalities of Kamnik, Domžale, Trzin, Lukovica, Mengeš, Moravče, Komenda; with the Škofja Loka Museum in the municipalities of Škofja Loka, Gorenja vas-Poljane, Železniki, Žiri; with the Radovljica Municipality Museums in the municipalities of Radovljica, Bled and Gorje; with the Tržič Museum in the municipality of Tržič. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the museum has also provided public services in the field of fine arts in cooperation with the Kamnik Cultural Center, the Radovljica Municipality Museums and the Škofja Loka Museum.
