Archiv města Jičín
Jičín was first mentioned in sources in 1293, being called town in 1304. Jews probably lived there since ancient times, as evidenced by the records of the oldest town book from the 14th century. In 1651, they were granted various privileges. Disputes often erupted between the town administration, local Jews and the nobility over the payment of taxes and the protection fee. As part of the Josephine reforms, a so-called regulated municipality was established in Jičín, and an independent municipality office in 1849. The town was part of the political and judicial district of Jičín.
