. . "Petras Baublys was born on 23 May 1914 in Lyda (Byelorussia). \r\nHe was Pediatrician and head of an orphanage in Kaunas. During the Nazi occupation, an underground Jewish organization active in the Kovno\r\nghetto asked Baublys if the orphanage, situated in the same section of the\r\ncity as the ghetto, could be used as a temporary place of refuge for Jewish\r\nchildren and a steppingstone for moving Jewish children to safer, permanent\r\nlocations. Baublys agreed; over time, tens of Jewish babies and children were\r\nadmitted into the orphanage. In 1977 Baublys was posthumously awarded the title\"Righteous Among the Nation\" by Yad Vashem. His brother Sergejus and sister-in-law Jadvyga were also recognized as\"Righteous among the Nation\" for hiding a Jewish\r\nchild in their home. "@en . . "Petras Baublys" . .
