Saved thousands of POWs and concentration camp inmates."During the last months of the war he was approached by Kaltenbrunner and Schellenberg on Himmler's behalf to feel out the Western allies on making some deal to mollify their unconditional surrender policy. Assassinated in Jerusalem by the Stern Gang.
