It was the principal office of the Nazi regime’s political, ideological, and racial warfare. The Reichssicherheitshauptamt’s backbone was the Gestapo and was founded by Reinhard Heydrich. After his assassination, Ernst Kaltenbrunner assumed command on 1943-01-30.
