The papers are arranged in three main areas. The first includes Schühle’s personal and business papers. The second documents the rental and property management of the house at Prinzregentenplatz 16 in Munich including the apartment of Adolf Hitler. These records offer some insights into the banality of Hitler's way of life. The third document the expansion of the"Otto Schühl" company in October 1938 through the acquisition of the Aryanized company"Otto Herr & Co" in Hamburg and its roofing felt factory in Malliß (Mecklenburg-West Pomerania) from Ludwig Schwabe and Elsa Kaufmann. In August 1940, Hugo Schühle sold the unprofitable company, which began producing chemicals under the name"Otto Herr & Co. Chemical Factor" under managing director Norbert Schühle, son of Hugo Schühle. The Bavarian Main State Archives acquired the papers from a private collector who received them from a relative who worked in Hugo Schühle’s company.
