Their mother died young, and they lived in Lodz with their father, his second wife, and their half siblings including Mendel Isaac Kleber. Lena Lipchiz immigrated to the United States in the 1920s. Basia Baumgarten was in a sanitorium in Chojny in 1938 and in the Lodz ghetto along with relative A. Dziaba in 1940. Lena and Basia’s half brother Isaac survived forced labor in Russia and spent time in the UNRRA displaced persons camp at Grugliasco after the war."@en ;
