Lisa Kawenoki perished in Auschwitz in August 1944. Sala Kawenoki was transferred to Ravensbrück concentration camp, and on April 25, 1945, she was released through the efforts of Count Folke Bernadotte and the Swedish Red Cross. After her release, she went to Sweden and from there immigrated to the United States in March 1946."@en ;
