        rico:scopeAndContent          "Files of the Provincial Court in Lublin, trial of Teodor Dak \"Krakus\" d. 1974), for participation in\"pacificatio\" of Polish civilians 1943‒1944 while in the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) near Tudorkowice, Sztychorów (now Ukraine), Hunistyń (Hrubieszów county), and Chłaniów (Krasnystaw county). Dak charged under Decree of August 31, 1944 (“Sierpniówka,” issued by Polski Komitet Wyzwolenia Narodowego regarding Nazi criminals guilty of murders and persecution of civilians and prisoners of war, and punishment of traitors to the Polish nation). Dak sentenced in 1972 under Article IV of the Penal Code (31/70) to 25-years, loss of citizenship rights, and confiscation of property; after appeal, Supreme Court Warsaw upheld (1972) verdict.
