Medal with loop at the top (a) and red and gray striped trifold ribbon (b). The obverse features a bust of Emperor Karl with his name in Latin"CAROLV" above and a wreath of laurels below. Between the bust and the laurels in smaller letters is the name"R. PLACHT" The reverse featured the words"LAESO MILIT" and the date in Roman numerals"MCMXVIII"
