Medal (Karl Troop Cross) with loop at the top and attached to a red and white ribbon folded into a triangular shape. The medal is zinc and consists of a cross pattee resting on a laurel wreath.The obverse bears the Latin inscription"GRATI PRINCEPTS ET PATRIA, CAROLVS IMP.ET REX" The reverse shows the Austrian and Hungarian Imperial crowns above teh letter"" with the inscription"VITAM ET SANGVINE" and the date MDCCCXVI.
