In the 1930s, Rogalski, a former champion soccer goalkeeper, was an art teacher and editor of two satirical magazines,\"Karykatury\" and\"Rogaty\" in Krakow, Poland. He was well known for his elegant, satirical portraits and lithographs which were exhibited and published in his magazines and other outlets. On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland. Krakow was occupied within the first week. Rogalski was executed by the Germans on December 24, 1939. The painting is one of more than 900 items in the Katz Ehrenthal Collection of antisemitic artifacts and visual materials."@en ;
