Pair of black leather half chaps which were worn with short boots to protect the lower legs, inscribed with a name and a German city. They are similar to gaiters made in 1920, but they are undated.

a. Dyed black leather right gaiter made from 1 stiff piece of leather, shaped for a calf and wider toward the top. The edges overlap at the front for an opening with top and bottom fasteners. A 4 hole black leather strap is threaded through a slot on each top side. It fastens to a silver colored metal buckle at the end of a looped black leather tab on the inner layer. At the bottom is a metal hook that inserts into a bar on the interior. The interior is unfinished brown leather, with a layer of unfinished brown leather reinforcing the bottom quarter.
