The US entered the war in December 1941, following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Office of War Information (OWI) was set up in June 1942 to control the message and imagery of government information about the war. The public could purchase a $25 war bond for $18.75 which would help pay for the cost of the war. The bond could be redeemed 10 years after purchase for the full $25. The war in Europe ended May 8 and the war in Japan on September 2."@en ;
