The face has a black decorative border with corner medallions with the denomination 1. There is a portrait of George Washington in the center; to the left is watermarked denomination 1, serial number Y91033384 A in blue ink, series 1935A, and engraved signatures. The back cover has a narrow white border, then a green web patterned edge design. On the left and right are images of the front and back of the Great Seal of the United States: front, an unfinished pyramid topped by the Eye of Providence within a triangle; back, an eagle with outstretched wings and a shield.
