Sterling US 46th Medical Battalion pin that belonged to a US medic

Irving H. Rosenberg, born in 1908 and from Brooklyn, New York, enlisted in the United States Army in November 1941. He served as a medic in the 46th Armored Medical Battalion, 4th Armored Division, during World War II. Rosenberg was deployed to France in 1944 and saw action in France and Germany. His battalion is known for its role in the Battle of the Bulge and for the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp, a subcamp of Buchenwald, in Germany. Rosenberg was wounded in the line of duty during the war and twice commended for his courage and devotion to duty during combat in France in September 1944. Rosenberg is believed to have died in Essex, New Jersey, in the 1980s. 

The medical battalion pin was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2005 by Lynn Brunskill.

46th Medical Battalion (Armored) Distinctive Unit sterling device that belonged to Irving H. Rosenberg who served as a medic in the United States Army during World War II. It depicts the crest in the red and white unit colors, with a cross symbolizing its healing nature, a pine tree for its origins at Pine Camp, NY, and the motto: That You May Serve Again. The 46th Medical Battalion (Armored) was attached to the 4th Armored Division throughout the campaigns in Normandy, France, Rhineland, and Ardennes-Alsace, including the April 4, 1945, liberation of Ohrdruf, a subcamp of Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany.

There is a silver outline of a pine tree with a white enameled top and red bottom; within the tree is a square cross, with a red enameled top, white bottom. There are 2 holes on either side of the shield point. Beneath the shield is a scroll with a black lettered Lati motto. Stamped on the reverse is the shield-shaped hallmark and name of N.S. Meyer. back, bottom right, scratched : 14R front, on banner under shield : UT ITERUM SERVIAS [To Serve Again]
