The front has an embossed image of a woman in a long robe and breastplate, Liberty, with her right foot resting on a helmet, a sign of war. In her outstretched right hand is a broken sword blade, and in her left hand, the hilt. There is English text beneath each hand and rays radiate behind the figure. On the back is embossed English text. A metal suspension ring attaches the ribbon which has a repeating pattern of a central wide red stripe flanked by this row of stripes: narrow white, purple, blue, green, yellow, narrow red, yellow, green, blue, and purple. A pin is connected to the ribbon, which has been folded and then inserted through a metal bracket. b. Rectangular cardboard box and lid covered with blue paper textured to resemble leather.         rico:history                "Irving H. Rosenberg, born in 1908 and from Brooklyn, New York, enlisted in the United States Army in November 1941. He served as a medic in the 46th Armored Medical Battalion, 4th Armored Division, during World War II. Rosenberg was deployed to France in 1944 and saw action in France and Germany. His battalion is known for its role in the Battle of the Bulge and for the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp, a subcamp of Buchenwald, in Germany. Rosenberg was wounded in the line of duty during the war and twice commended for his courage and devotion to duty during combat in France in September 1944.
