Although he and his father were both members of the Evangelical Church in Germany and his mother was raised in the Catholic Church in Austria, they were considered Jewish under Nazi racial laws. Henry immigrated to the United States in 1937 and became an American citizen in 1943. He studied nuclear physics and worked at the University of Kansas, the Manhattan Project, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Lawrence Livermore Laboratories. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1987."@en ;
