The book was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2002 by Felicia Liban.
Felicia Volger Liban was born in Krakow, Poland, in 1934. At eight years old, she was accidentally left with the Warenica family for a few days in Krakow, and the family kept her for the duration of World War II after her mother was deported. Josef Warenica was an accountant, and his wife, Stanislawa, helped him at home. The Warenicas had one son named Janusz. They were active in the Polish underground. Felicia assumed the name"Zosia (Sophia) Fusink" and went to church every day and studied catechism. She was preparing for her first communion when the war ended. Although she did not attend school and for the first year never left the house, the Warenica family brought her books from the library to keep her busy.
