Jan Willem Slotboom wrote the letter in Gerrit Dop and Aaltje Breunesse in 1945. Wiebe van Ijken, grandson of Gerrit Dop and Aaltje Breunesse, gave a photocopy of the letter to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in October 1997.
