In the manuscript, Donato Grosser describes the experience of Italian Jews and Jewish refugees in Italy in the 1930s, including information about the 1938 emigration of his father, Bernardo Grosser, who was from Kamionki Wielkie, but emigrated by way of France. In Italy, Grosser became one of the secretaries of the Genoa office of DELASEM (the Delegazione per l'Assistenz agli Emigranti); the manuscript describes the work of this office with refugees and the leadership of Lelio Vittorio Valobra. Includes information about the Pentcho river boat, the Ferramoni internment camp, and the various DELASEM auxiliary organizations. In late 1943, members of the DELASEM staff were forced to flee over the mountains to safety in Switzerland, where they reconstructed DELASEM as a section of the Swiss Committee for Jewish Refugees. After the war, Grosser briefly worked for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (the Joint) assisting survivors."@en ;
