rico:history "Major Bernard Block, DDS, (1912-1951) was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Louis and Ethel Block. He married Dorothy Tauber (1913–1990) in 1937 and they had a daughter, Marian (1942-2011). Block’s family was Jewish and of German descent. He was part of a US Army unit that liberated concentration camps. He died at the age of 38 of a service-related illness.
