In Paris, people gather to hear news of the armistice. Loudspeakers in a square relay live"hard but not dishonorable condition"."The German government solemnly declares that it does not intend to use for its own purposes of war the French [naval] units in the control ports, apart from coastguard and minesweeping vessel".
