The 1937 International Exposition in France is remembered mostly for the contrasting pavilions of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union which literally"faced of" in front of the Eiffel Tower. This"International Exposition of Arts and Technics in Modern Lif" - open from May 25, 1937 to November 2, 1937 - included 44 countries and was attended by more than 31 million people. Breaking away from its universal, art, and science predecessors, this exposition infused nationalism, artisanship, and technology.
