Fonds of the Municipal Notary Office in Bratislava contains documents pertaining the town municipal agenda, including the period of the Slovak State (1939 – 1945). Among the other administrative tasks of the office, fonds provides with several relevant information about the Jewish persecution, enforcement of the anti-Semitic measures, their practical realization and direct consequences on the Jewish community in the city. Fonds contains numerous documents regarding the anti-Semitic agenda such as various regulations, continual and gradual limitations of the Jewish employment (doctors, clerks, lawyers) and their expelling from the state and public service. Register of the city population, based on the religion, is also preserved. Some of the material is dedicated to the so-called “Aryanization” of Jewish property in the city area, including forced moving out from the particular streets. Fond provides with relevant information about the Jewish school in Bratislava and its forced displacement. Bratislava played an important role in the migration process in 1938/1939 when many Jews from Germany, Austria, etc. were coming to Czechoslovakia and many of them stayed interned in the city close to Patrónka, not to mention some of the victims of the deportation to the “no man´s land” in late autumn 1938. Partial information about these refugees, including the inhabitants of Petržalka (Engerau) which became a part of Nazi Germany, is also recorded in the documentation of the Municipal Notary Office in Bratislava. Fonds contains also fragmentary material pertaining the state-organized “dislocation” of the Jews from Bratislava to other parts of Slovakia what was realized in October 1941.
Material is arranged chronologically and numerically.
