rico:history "Following the First Vienna Award the town of Levice (Hungarian: Léva) was occupied by Hungarian forces on 10 November 1938. Based on the order of the military command Hungarian army established the mayor of the town. On 9 March 1939 the municipality council of Levice discussed and agreed upon the decision to change the town of Levice to the city with the Municipality Office, the County City (Hungarian: megyei város). Based on the ruling the prime minister No. 6460/1939 Levice became a County City effective of 15 July 1939. The mayor of the City and his deputy were named based on the ruling of the Minister of Interior No. 35.882/1939-IV. The Deputy Mayor was also a Notary of the City. The Municipality Office existed from 23. August 1939 to 20 December 1944, i.e. to the liberation of city."@en , "No data are available."@en ;

rico:scopeAndContent "The fonds contains documents reflecting the fate and persecution of Jewish population of the town of Levice after its annexation by Hungary. Some documents pertain to the cancellation of Jewish associations in the town in 1939. After the adoption of the Second Jewish Law there were extensive business restrictions in Hungary. The fonds contains census of businesses, documents on the revision as well as cancellation of business licences and closing of stores. Some files pertain to the census of property, confiscation of agricultural property, requests (applications) for the allocation of Jewish property etc. Files from 1944 include the data on the ban to enter public places, creation of the ghetto in Levice (Léva), concentration of Jews from the district in the ghetto established in old military barracks. The fonds contains list of Jews in held in the ghetto, as well as tje alphabetical list of Jewish inhabitants of Levice. The ghettoization touched also non-Jews who protested against including some parts of the town into the closed territory. Rulings prohibiting expression of sympathy towards Jews are preserved in the fonds as well. Some files from the period of the deportation concern the expropriation of Jewish property or the allocation of their houses and apartments."@en ;
