rico:history "The Halmi family from Košice was one of the most prominent Jewish families in the politcal, social and cultural life of the city in the period between 1867 and 1945. Members of the family magyarized their names from Hennefeld into Halmi in the 1890s. Béla and Félix Halmi Béla Halmi, both of them lawyers, were the founding members of the Hungarian National Party, a liberal political party in interwar Czechoslovakia. Their mother, Sofia Horovitz was the sister of the famous Jewish painter, Leopold Horovitz (1838-1917). The majority of the family members was murdered during the Holocaust."@en ;

rico:scopeAndContent "The collection is based on the legacy of one of the Halmi (Hennefeld) family from Košice in the period between 1867 and 1945. The documents that were preserved in the legacy are connected mainly to the personal files of four brothers, Félix, Jenő, Pál and Béla Halmi, and their sister, Piroska who were active in the political, social and cultural life of Košice. Many of the documents belonging to the family legacy concerns the life and survival strategies of the familiy after the first Vienna Award in 1938 and during the holocaust. Among these materials are also their requests for exceptions that the Halmis submitted to Andor Jaross. Furthermore, the collection contains the correspondence, several photographs and other personal documents of the Halmis."@en ;
