        rico:scopeAndContent     "Koos Valk is geboren op 8 april 1934 in Groningen, in een arm gezin met zeven kinderen. Op 9 april 1943 moet het gezin naar kamp Vught, waar de negenjarige Koos traumatische ervaringen opdoet. Paniek, verlating, geweld, ziekte. Na een maand gaat het gezin naar Westerbork. Hier blijven ze anderhalf jaar. In het najaar van 1944 worden ze gedeporteerd naar Theresiënstadt. Hier maken ze de bevrijding door de Russen mee. Bij terugkeer in Nederland, met het hele gezin, voelt Koos zich uitgesloten uit de samenleving. De oorlog heeft een diepe en verwoestende indruk op hem gemaakt. NB: dit interview gaat voornamelijk over kamp Vught. Een kanttekening is op zijn plaats: de herinneringen van Koos Valk zijn overschaduwd door zijn trauma en komen hier en daar niet overeen met de historische werkelijkheid.
