The file contains two essays. The first essay tells the story of a Jewish man living in Germany. He recounts his life and mentions the growing anti-Semitism leading up to the Nazis' rise to power. Under the Nazi regime he faced severe discrimination and ultimately was incarcerated in a concentration camp for a period of time. The second essay is written by Marie Kahle. She lived with her husband and children in Germany. Under the Nazi rule she refused to let her sons join the"Hitlerjugen" and was in touch with Jewish people. During the November Pogroms she and her sons helped several Jews. Her actions were reported in a Nazi newspaper and led to an unsuccessful attack at her home. Kahle decided that the family had to leave Germany and moved to London.
