Kurt Desch, son of a shoemaker from Pößneck, Thüringen, had worked as a journalist and advertising specialist in various publishing houses, including Frankfurter Zeitung. After temporary arrest in 1933, he was expelled from the Empire Literature Chamber, so that he had to become a water-factory worker. In the summer of 1945, he was brought in by the American military Government for the reconstruction of the publishing and book trade in Bavaria. As a result of the first publishing license awarded in Bavaria, he took over the Munich Peaks publishing house, where he had already worked temporarily during the World War. In 1946, he transformed this company into Kurt Desch publishing house. -- Wikipedia Newspaper clippings and biographical information.
