Ein Bekehrungsversuch (A conversion attempt) Testimony by Hans Jaeger - how a former pupil, Helmuth Lucke from Frankfurt/Main, tried to recruit him to the NSDAP in 1929 with the help of Hans Beckerle, head of the national socialist student association (in 1933 he became Police president of Frankfurt, later he joined the Diplomatic corps and was sent to Bulgaria). He describes Beckerle as very intelligent, and that he was compared to other members of the SA as cultured and well mannered. It becomes a lively discussion about communism, socialism and capitalism, the treaty of Versailles, etc. In some points they even agreed but especially in the “Jewish question” they were diametrically opposed. in Meine Flucht aus der Tschechoslowakei (My escape from the Czechoslowakia) Jaeger describes his narrow escape from the Nazis in occupied Prague with many near misses, and the courageous support he had from various people along the way. The remaining part of the file is a summary of anti-semitic incidents, persecutions and murders by various Nazis throughout Germany: Amtsgericht Arnswalde in der Neumark, Gauleiter Saukel, Gauinspektor Wagener, Breslau, Herman Goering, Gauleiter Schede, Coburg, Buchenwald report on the dismal condition of the camp (especially the toilets), daily harassment and beatings and public executions. Magdeburg, Erfurt, Halle an der Saale, Kassel, Dessau, Koethen, Chemnitz, Dresden, Leipzig, Koenigsberg (Gauleiter Koch)
