The file contains a brochure entitled “The Road to Reversal - Address delivered by Carleton Putnam” and published by the National Putnam Letters Committee in 1962. The text is a speech made by Carleton Putnam before the Fifth Annual Attorney General's Conference for District Attorneys in New Orleans/Louisiana on February 16, 1962. In his speech, Carleton Putnam takes up the criticism towards his book “Race and Reason”, in which he had countered the integrational politics of the Civil Rights movement and anti-segregation initiatives by putting forward the thesis of biological and evolutionary differences between people of African American background and people of European origin. He refutes his critics and calls his audience to resist the politics of integration and to understand them as a broader social and political battle.
