"The file contains the reprint of an article written by Thomas F. Pettigrew, professor of social psychology, and originally published in 1969 in the Urban Review (3, 4-8) on the “School Integration in Current Perspective”. The article’s reprint has been distributed by the American Jewish Committee. In his article, based on a talk made in 1968 at Columbia University, Pettigrew argues in favor of an “interracial America” by stressing out some points on how to achieve desegregation in education. Referring to the Commission on Civil Rights report, he underlines that the social milieu plays a bigger role in educational achievement than racial integration. Therefore, he presents some structural changes in urban and educational districts in order to promote what he calls “dispersal” as a means to counter racial segregation."@eng .
