The file contains the charges and verdicts of six Dutch defendants as well as pleas for clemency. The defendants include Cornelius Straatman (born on 19 December 1919 in Zaltbommel, Hendrik van Geel (born on 24 May 1920 in Amsterdam), Gerhardus Holter (born on 23 November 1920 in Amsterdam), Cornelius Akkerman (born on 5 June 1920 in Amsterdam), Johannes Heesakkers (born on 22 September 1917 in Hertogenbosch) and Jacobus Johannes Reyntjes (born on 28 November 1915). Straatman and Reyntjes were each charged with committing theft in four different cases. The defendant van Geel was accused of three different thefts. Holter was accused of two different thefts and the defendants Akkerman and Heesakkers were charged with theft in one case each. All defendants took advantage of the darkness to commit their thefts. Hendrik van Geel and Jacobus Johannes Reyntjes were both sentenced to death. Gerhardus Holter was sentenced to three years of penitentiary. Cornelius Akkerman and Heesakkers were each sentenced to two years of penitentiary. Cornelius Straatman initially received the death sentence but a successful plea for clemency overturned the verdict. Straatman ultimately was sentenced to ten years of penitentiary.
