Riedel was accused of illegal weapon possession. He bought an army pistol knowing that it was stolen. The defendant kept the weapon for several years without having a license for it. The pistol as well as 35 rounds of ammunition were found in 1942. Riedel was found guilty and sentenced to death."@en ;
