The file contains the verdict of Wenzel Daniel (born on 2 February 1900 in Wapenka), son of a gypsy couple, who received no formal education growing up. Before joining the military he used to travel in the countryside with his father to help him craft and sell metal goods. In the years 1920 and 1926 he served as a soldier in the Czech army. After his discharge he worked in a sawmill and tried to keep his head above the water doing occasional jobs. He was convicted 18 times due to robbery and fighting. In the end of March 1942 he watched a knacker bury a dead pig. After ensuring that the knacker has left, he dug out the carcass, processed the meat and sold it to the landlady Stastny. On April 15 1942 Wenzel David noticed a new pit with two more dead pigs buried inside. Once again, he sold the product to Ms. Stastny. However, shortly afterwards the police caught him. An expert conducted quality checks and concluded that the meat was unfit for consumption. Wenzel David was sentenced to death on the ground of deliberate deception and negligent attitude towards the health of others (Crime against the"Volksschädlings-Verordnun"; Enemies of the People Decree).
