The file contains the verdict of Wenzel Drda (born on 10 April 1884 in Jirkau). From February 1939 to August 1939 he was hiding a Jewish man called Willi Goldberg in his workshop. Goldberg was wanted for suspected communist espionage. The two had a system of signals and warnings to announce an unexpected visit by the police that would give Mr. Goldberg time to escape. Moreover, Wenzel Drda allowed Mr. Goldberg to listen to hostile radio stations. After the inception of the new gun-policy in 1939 the perpetrator has not delivered his rifles to the authorities – thus, he illegally possessed weapons as well. Two years later, in 1942, an old friend of his asked him to lodge a teacher named Jen Strejc, who was in fact a Czech resistance fighter called Hanek on the run from the authorities. Having lodged two enemies of the Reich and illegally possessed weapons, Drda was sentenced to death.
