The file contains a some reports regarding varous aspects of Democracy in the German Republic of Weimar. There are several copies of the reports attached, some include handwritte notes, others are just drafts. Furthermore an Appendix can be seen. Under the title of: 'Coalition Gevernment under Weimar. The Dynamism of Trends and Events.' the author explains the development of the Weimar Republic. The years of war had prepared the ground for democracy, the menace of military stalemate, the possibility of disastrous setback and defeat, the war -weariness of the masses, the social and political aspirations of the progressive middle-class and the revolutionary endeavous of the class-conscious workers Revolution had from the outset electriefied the political atmosphere. Social reforms were introduced to sidetrack the widespread social unrest under the very supervision of the military authorities. Furthermore the famous Peace Resolution of the Reichstag had mobilised political energies, which at a later date swayed the first phase of Weimar's Parliamentary. Aslo the first and second Council of the people's Trusteees were in power. After the Reich elections to the Constituant National Assembly, the first Weimar Coalition Government was established under Scheidemann's and Ebert's leadership.
