rico:scopeAndContent "The file contains informations about the Battle of Berlin in 1944. Paul Anderson writes his report just after the first phase of the Battle of Berlin had come to an end. The Battle started in the night of November 18th to November 19th with the first 2000 ton attack on the German capital. In all over twenty-one thousand tons of bombs were unloaded over Berlin in fourteen heavy night raids. As the author argues, the Battle might be resumed today or tomorrow but the first phase is over, so the question would be: what is the result and what has been achieved? Anderson points out couple of things, for example that Goebbels decided to change his propaganda method and spoke true words to the nation, as no one had been expected this sort of attacks, not even the most hardest pessimist. As Goebbels said 40 percent of Greater Berlin was totally distroyed and another 25 percent heavily damaged. Also eye-witnesses are interviewed and are explaining their feelings and the situation in Berlin. Furthermore millions of Berliners vegitating eather than living in the city of ruins. Furthermore a lot of Berliner had been transfered from a war essential job to street clearance, repair or reconstruction work. They are still working very hard, but for a cosiderable time most of them will work without producing. So the Battle of Berlin has been a decisive victory for the Royal Air Force and for Hitler is has been a great Battle lost."@en ;
