"The file contains material of a correspondence between the German Jewish Aid Committee in London and couple of Refugee organizations, like the Jewish Refugee Committee/ Trainee department in Leeds, the British Committee for Refugees from Czecho-Slovakia and the York Refugee Committee. These organizations tried to save as many Jews as possible by the use of trainee and work visa for Great Britain. The correspondence is regarding the trainee or work positions and possibilities the organizations found for the Jewish refugees. Furthermore an active exchange between the organizations concerning further ideas and posibilities to involve more trainee places and finding other ways to get more Jews to Great Britain can be read. Questions of payment, workhours, new or better work positions, living conditions and solving general problems of the refugees have been discussed as well in the letters. Several curriculum vitae of applicans and testimonial of their previous works can be also seen. Besides applications by foreign nationals for the service in the British army, only for men, are attached. Through the refugee organizations a lot of Jewish refugees from Germany and from the occupied territories could fled and found work in Great Britain."@eng .
