The file contains correspondences, leaflets, newspaperarticles and informations about the Jüdischer Kulturbund in Berlin (Cultural Association of German Jews). It was a cultural Federation of German Jews, established in 1933. Kurt Singer and several friends set up the Cultural Association of German Jews in Berlin, to provide employment for Jewish artists persecuted and fired from their previous work, and give Jewish people access to culture. Hans Hinkel was responsible as a special commissioner for"cultural particular" at the Reich Ministry for the People's Enlightenment and Propaganda. As Reich Culture Governor, Hinkel's work consisted of, among other things, approving events staged by the Cultural Federation of German Jews on a case-by-case basis. Further informations about the Cultural Association of German Jews in Berlin is given in leaflets, every memeber of it was allowed to attend some performances and special events. Most of the correspondence seen in this file is between those two. As Singer had to ask for permission each time they wanted to perform something and everything which was performed was checked and needed to be authorized by Hinkel.
