The file contains a report and newspaper articles concerning the Maritz case in South Afrika in 1939. Salomon Gerhardus Maritz, known as General Manie Maritz, underwent trial at the High Court at Windhoek, South Afrika. He was charged with sale and distribution of his anti-Semitic book 'My life and struggle'. Maritz's case was already brought up to court before and coused great sensation in the South African Union and abroad. Both times he got sentenced to a fine. The trial was of so great interest, because it had not only been possible to refute anti-Semitic charges, but also because the case had been handled on the basis of a law condemning all actions promoting feelings and hostility against a race. The 'Windhoek Advertiser' reported about the Maritz case and his banned book. Informations about the trial, the book and about Maritz himself can be seen.
