Restauration of continental Jewish Museums, Libraries and Archives
1 electronic resource (11 pages)
The file contains report of a conference on the restauration of continental Jewish Museums, Libraries and Archives. It took place on the 11th of April in 1943 in London. The conference has been convened by the 'Jewish Historical Society' in England in order to discuss and to present the question of stolen objects by the Nazis. The question of finding the right owner seemed to be difficult, as some owners can not be traced, or because some objects belonged to institutions, Museums, Synagogues, public collections, Rabbinical seminaries, etc. Especially those ones are unlikely to be revived. The idea of the conference was to draw a scheme and to establish a committee for the eventual restauration of the Jewish Libraries, Museums and Archives, privat and public, which have fallen into the hands of the Nazi authorities and their associates.
