The file contains a copy of a letter (dated to 10th October 1937 in St. Jevin en Fencigny [sic], the right name is St Jeoire en Faucigny, France) addressed to a certain attorney (“Maître”) by Armand Alexandre du Chayla. The writer says he would continue to stay close to the very facts and adds the names of three ecclesiastical personalities of the Orthodox Church who could bear witness about his visit at Optine Poustine at the spoken time: the Archpriest S.J. Orlov, Mgr. Euloge and Mr. Amethystor. He tells he is in a friendly relationship with these people who could bear witness about the facts themselves but also about his fidelity to his own religious and moral ideas. However, he isn’t willing to ask for their witness and requests the attorney to do so. He also refers to his own ideological attitude towards Judaism which had been explained in an article published in [the journal] la “Tribune Juive” in 1922 (“La Question juive et les destinées du Christianism"). He stays here [St. Jeoire], until the 20th October, in order to recover from a serious disease. The second file contains the original handwritten letter from A. du Chayla (dated to 10th October 1937 in St. Jeoire en Faucigny, Haute-Savoie, and stamped with the date of 13th September 1937). [The typed copy of the letter is the first file presented here].
