[Propaganda in newspapers on the subject of the Bern trail]
1 electronic resource (33 pages)
The file contains reports and newspaper cuttings from 1935. The file belongs to the Verfilmungsprojekt"Die Protokolle der Weisen von Zio" by the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich; Archiv für Zeitgeschichte; Zeitungsberichte von 1903 bis 1935. Several newspaper clippings from different newspapers are attached. Most of the clippings report on the forgery of the Protocols of the wise man of Zion and the Bern trial. Articles, mostly in German, explain how right-wing extremists started to use the pamphlet of the Protocols for their antisemitic purpose and how the prosecutors try to stop the distribution in Switzerland. Also the question of authenticity of the Protocols is asked again, even though the Times reported in 1921 about the forgery of the Protocols. Several newspapers quoted the results of the Times in order to ensure that everyone knows and understands the forgery of the Protocols. But German right-wing extremist newspapers plead for the authenticity and credibility of the Protocols and accuse all slanderers as liars. Furthermore information about the Bern trail are spread in several newspapers. The 'Jüdische Pressezentrale' reports about articles from the 'Eiserne Besen', 'Nationale Zeitung' and the 'Stürmer', which use the Protocols and the Bern trial to spread and reinforce their antisemitic views. Information about witnesses, experts, especially about Ulrich Fleischhauer, and evidences are discussed and presented in the cuttings. The 'Neue Züricher Zeitung' reports about the upcoming events and how politicians and journalists from Germany and Switzerland deal with the trial. Especially 'Der Stürmer', a Nazi propaganda newspaper, is reporting about the world domination of the Jews, for which the Protocols are supposed to stand and how important the Bern trial is.
