Winz founded together with Davis Trietsch the magazine East and West, which he led until 1923 as a responsible editor. 1903 appeared under Winz' aegis, the first issue of the satirical magazine Zionist Schlemihl. The magazine was continued by Max Jungmann without Winz, as he, by publishing a criticism work of Ahad Ha'am on Theodor Herzl novel OldNewLand in East and West 1903, had become a non-person in Zionist circles.
