The Polish underground labor movement
The Polish underground labor movement
1 electronic resource (16 pages)
The publication provides an overview of the Polish underground labor movement. From its beginnings in 1870 through the years leading up to the First World War and the consequent struggles in the post war years the author continues to explain the difficult work and opposition the movement faced. From 1922 to 1939 the movement became an important player in the constant struggle for democracy in Poland and fought against Anti-Semitism together with the Jewish labor movement. During the German occupation the movement went underground, regrouped, formed new alliances and continued to fight. Underground publications were created and distributed under difficult conditions. Nazi crimes are documented and published in WRN – The Chronicle of the Occupation. The 7 points of the program for a People’s Poland is reprinted. Cooperation with the British labor movement is encouraged.
